Credit unions looking to connect with young members in a meaningful way have an opportunity to do just that through Bite of Reality, a hands-on financial education experience designed for students in grades 8–12.
This interactive simulation places participants in real-world financial scenarios, where they are assigned a career, income, and financial obligations. As they move through the experience, students make decisions on housing, transportation, food, and other expenses, all while navigating unexpected costs that mirror real life. The result is a practical, engaging way to build financial awareness and confidence.
In addition to supporting financial education, Bite of Reality offers credit unions a chance to strengthen relationships within their communities and introduce students to the value of credit unions early on.
Programs typically run in about 90 minutes and can be hosted in partnership with local schools or community groups, making it a flexible option for credit unions looking to expand their outreach.
