It will be an eventful week in Washington, D.C., as both the House and Senate will consider legislation to fund government operations beyond Nov. 21, the date when the government runs out of spending authority.  The House is expected to act first with legislation extending that authority until Dec. 20.  In addition, the House will vote on H.R. 1309, the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act.  The Senate will consider several judicial nominations.

In committee on Wednesday, the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing as well as a markup of  S. 2877, the “Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2019.”  The House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions will hold a hearing: “An Examination of Regulators’ Efforts to Preserve and Promote Minority Depository Institutions,”  and the House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance will hold a hearing: “Safe and Decent? Examining the Current State of Residents’ Health and Safety in HUD Housing.”

On Thursday, the House Committee on Financial Services Task Force on Financial Technology will hold a hearing: “Banking on Your Data: the Role of Big Data in Financial Services.”
