This week, both the House and Senate are in session but with relatively light legislative schedules.  Both bodies will resume negotiations on the omnibus appropriations bill.  Current government funding expires on January 19th so the clock is ticking.

In addition, the House will consider S. 140, a bill to amend the White Mountain Apache Tribe Water Rights Quantification Act of 2010.  Also, the House will vote on S. 139, the Rapid DNA Act of 2017.

The Senate will consider a number of judicial nominations, including William L. Campbell, Jr to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Tennessee.

In committee Tuesday:

  • The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing: “Combating Money Laundering and Other Forms of Illicit Finance: Opportunities to Reform and Strengthen BSA Enforcement.”
  • The House Financial Services Committee Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “Evaluating CFIUS: Challenges Posed by a Changing Global Economy.”
  • The House Financial Services Committee Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “Legislative Proposals for a More Efficient Federal Financial Regulatory Regime: Part II.”
