The Credit Union Impact Foundation’s Commitment to Disaster Relief and Community Support

The Credit Union Impact Foundation has long demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting credit union employees and volunteers affected by natural disasters. Most recently, the Foundation made a $10,000 contribution to the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) to assist with disaster relief efforts in response to the devastating wildfires in California.

While its primary focus is on Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia, the Foundation also embodies the cooperative principle of “Cooperation Among Cooperatives.” It provides support to credit unions in other impacted regions, reinforcing the credit union movement’s collaborative spirit and ensuring no credit union faces a disaster alone.

In addition to its efforts in these regions, the Foundation has extended support to areas such as Texas, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and California. Since its inception in 2018, over $1.6 million in disaster relief funds have been distributed, enabling credit unions to recover quickly and resume serving their members.

The Credit Union Impact Foundation’s dedication to disaster relief continues to strengthen the credit union community. Looking ahead, it remains committed to helping credit unions in times of crisis, upholding the values of mutual aid and resilience that are at the heart of the credit union movement.
