Giving Tuesday: Celebrating Credit Union Generosity

Observed each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is a global celebration of generosity that inspires people and organizations to give back through donations, volunteering, and acts of kindness that strengthen their communities.

For credit unions, that mission is part of everyday life. Built on “People Helping People,” credit unions continue to lead through service, whether it is providing financial education, supporting local families, or offering a helping hand when challenges arise.

This year, the Credit Union Impact Foundation helped make that work possible by introducing its new Disaster Relief Vehicle, made possible through a partnership with ServeComm and support from Corporate One Federal Credit Union and Corporate America Credit Union. The vehicle will allow the Foundation to bring relief directly to communities when they need it most, with more details to be shared soon.

That same spirit can be seen at Legacy Community Federal Credit Union, where the Legacy For Good Foundation Annual Toy Drive is back. The initiative encourages members to help make the season a little brighter for children in their communities by donating new, unwrapped toys. This year’s donations will benefit Curt’s Closet in Cullman and Garrett’s Place in the Birmingham area, with collection boxes available at all branch locations.

These stories reflect what makes our movement unique. As we head toward Giving Tuesday on December 2, we invite you to celebrate the credit union difference and the generosity that defines it.
