Highlights from the Small Credit Union Conference

Last week, the Small Credit Union Conference in Richmond, Virginia, brought together credit union leaders to address the unique challenges faced by smaller credit unions.

The conference began with a welcoming reception and dinner, offering attendees a relaxed environment to network and prepare for the sessions ahead. Over the next two days, participants engaged in discussions on essential topics, including data mining and utilization with Nikole John of TruStage, recent developments within the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) with Samantha Beeler, President of The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates, and key updates on ongoing advocacy efforts. These discussions provided valuable insight into navigating regulatory changes and understanding their implications for smaller credit unions.

Afternoon roundtable activities allowed for a deep dive into the topics that mattered most to the attendees. One of the highlights of the conference was Executive Director of the Credit Union Impact Foundation, Bobbi Grady’s session on “Your Foundation at Work,” where she shared the impactful work the Foundation continues to do to support credit unions across the country.

The event concluded with a joint reception with EMERGE attendees, providing further networking opportunities and fostering collaboration among participants.

The conference left attendees better equipped to tackle the evolving landscape of the credit union industry, armed with new strategies, connections, and inspiration.
