New Horizons Credit Union Awards $5000 in Scholarships to Deserving High School Students

New Horizons Credit Union, located in Mobile, Alabama, offers graduating high school senior members a scholarship opportunity through their New Wave Youth Savings Account program.  New Horizons Credit Union proudly awarded five deserving high school seniors with a $1,000 scholarship as part of the 2026 New Horizons Credit Union Scholarship Program which is based on the student’s academic achievement, community involvement, and essay responses.

New Horizons Credit Union’s Scholarship Program has been going strong for over 24 years awarding over $95,000 in scholarship dollars. To qualify for consideration, a student must be a graduating high school senior and have a New Horizons Credit Union New Wave Youth Savings Account. New Horizons Credit Union encourages parents and guardians to open their child a savings account to encourage financial literacy.

There were many extraordinary students who applied for the scholarship. The decision is never easy, and this year was no exception. But, in the end, five students stood out amongst their peers. The winning students were either contacted individually or through their high school’s guidance office for recognition among their peers. Each awardee was also sent a New Horizons Credit Union Certificate of Achievement to add to their college portfolio.  The winners’ desired college will receive the scholarship funds in the student’s name to be applied to their college costs. The following are the five high school senior scholarship recipients:

  • Kelsen-Ann Davis from Clarke Preparatory School
  • Jaiden Russell from Alabama School of Math & Science
  • Nolan Allen from Mary G. Montgomery High School
  • Kamarin Powe from Daphne High School
  • Elizabeth Martin from Davidson High School

“New Horizons Credit Union believes in furthering education and has a proven track record of doing so for many years.  All the students should feel very proud of their accomplishments, and we wish them success in their pursuits,” commented Edith Franklin, President and CEO of New Horizons Credit Union.
