Each year, #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day brings together credit union advocates from around the world to celebrate the people-first mission that sets our industry apart. On Friday, July 26, credit unions from all 50 states and several countries took to social media to highlight the connections, values, and life-changing impact of the credit union movement. The campaign reached millions of people globally, amplifying the stories that make credit unions more than just financial institutions.
To join in the celebration, we asked our members to share their stories on social media. The responses we received were thoughtful and personal, offering a meaningful glimpse into the impact of credit unions across our region.
At Legacy Community Federal Credit Union, one member received a surprise financial boost through a seasonal promotion. The member was awarded $2,025 as part of a tax refund giveaway. The experience of personally delivering that good news served as a reminder of how credit unions support their members in big and small ways every day.
Heritage South Credit Union shared a story that spanned generations. One team member reflected on her early memories of sitting in the backseat while her mom deposited her father’s paycheck at the drive-through. Years later, she now manages that very credit union branch, showing how these institutions can shape both personal and professional journeys.
These stories are just a small snapshot of the everyday impact credit unions have across our region. Whether it’s helping a member navigate a major life milestone or fostering lifelong connections, credit unions remain rooted in trust, service, and community.
We’re grateful to all our members who shared their stories. To see more stories and stay connected, follow The League on LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
