Virginia Credit Union Association Honors Virginia Delegate Alfonso Lopez as 2024 Lawmaker of the Year

The Virginia Credit Union Association, a subsidiary of The League of Credit Unions, proudly recognizes Delegate Alfonso Lopez (D-3) as the recipient of the 2024 State Lawmaker of the Year Award in Virginia.

“Delegate Lopez’s dedication to advancing credit union priorities has been instrumental in creating meaningful progress for our industry and the communities we serve,” expressed CeJae Vtipilson, Vice President of Governmental Affairs at The League and the Virginia Credit Union Association. “His leadership on legislation expanding access to financial services and steadfast advocacy for credit unions make him a true ally in the Virginia General Assembly.”

A Member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 2012, Delegate Lopez has been a steadfast supporter of credit unions, consistently championing legislative priorities. His role on the Labor and Commerce Committee has been particularly impactful, where he has worked tirelessly to protect and promote the interests of credit unions in the General Assembly. Delegate Lopez’s commitment to financial inclusion, local economic development, and fostering a positive legislative environment for credit unions has earned him widespread respect across the Commonwealth. In addition to his work on credit union issues, Lopez has remained a strong advocate for clean energy policies, immigrant protection, and expanding educational opportunities for all Virginians.
