Katie BaileyThis week, the Tallahassee Chapter held its annual Holiday Celebration in partnership with Toys For Tots. This annual gathering is a longstanding tradition for the Chapter aimed at celebrating the accomplishments of local credit unions, bolstering advocacy efforts, sharing industry updates, and supporting its growing Toys For Tots fundraiser.
Over the years, the sold-out event has placed hundreds of donated toys in the hands of children across the community. Every attendee is asked to bring an unwrapped children’s toy as part of admission, and this year nearly $5,000 worth of toys will be donated to Toys For Tots. Additionally, the Tallahassee Chapter is matching each donation dollar for dollar, bringing its total contribution to more than $10,000.
Additionally, the Tallahassee Chapter also made a pair of donations that will support the entire credit union movement. The Chapter made a $7,500 donation to the Florida Credit Union Political Action Committee (CUPAC) to strengthen its advocacy work and a $5,000 donation to The Credit Union Impact Foundation, the charitable arm of The League, committed to enriching credit unions and the lives of their members. The League is grateful for the Chapter’s backing and appreciative of its members’ support not just in Tallahassee, but throughout Florida.
