Yesterday, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Rodney Hood, a Republican, and Todd Harper, a Democrat, to serve on the board of the National Credit Union Administration, seating a full three-person board at the organization for the first time in three years. The vote came unexpectedly, though both were likely to have no issues with confirmation.

We are pleased to see these two seats filled by qualified candidates,” said Patrick La Pine, president/CEO of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates. “Having just met with McWatters during the CUNA GAC, we feel the exchange gave him an understanding of the importance of matters our credit unions face daily. We hope these two leaders will be mindful of the best interests of our credit unions as they address regulation and other issues in the coming years.”

Hood was most recently the Corporate Responsibility Manager at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and was appointed by George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2005 to a seat on the Board of NCUA. Harper served as the director of public and congressional affairs and as the chief policy advisor to the chairman at the NCUA.
