Credit union leaders across Alabama and Georgia gathered last week to celebrate International Credit Union Day, recognizing the “People Helping People” philosophy that defines the credit union movement.

In Montgomery, Alabama, Samantha A.M. Beeler, President of The League, Michelle Roth, Executive Vice President of Advocacy, and Ibby Dickson, Manager of Federal Advocacy, joined local credit union leaders and Senator Tommy Tuberville to mark the occasion. The event was an opportunity to thank Senator Tuberville for his continued support of credit unions and the vital role they play in strengthening communities and expanding financial access.

Meanwhile, in Columbus, Kinetic Credit Union and APCU/Center Parc Credit Union joined area lawmakers for a luncheon highlighting the cooperative spirit that drives the credit union movement. Sydney Seral, Chief Advocacy Officer, shared updates on current advocacy priorities and discussed how credit unions continue to make a meaningful difference for their members and communities.
Both gatherings were marked by fellowship, engaging discussion, and a shared commitment to ensuring credit unions can continue to empower the people and places they serve.
If you missed it, recap International Credit Union Day and look through The League’s social accounts on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and X to watch the various congressional and state lawmakers wishing Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Virginia credit unions a Happy International Credit Union Day.
