NCUA Reports Continued Credit Union Growth in Second Quarter

Federally insured credit unions continued to grow in the second quarter of 2026, according to new data released by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).

Total assets increased 5.0% year over year to $2.50 trillion, while total loans outstanding grew 4.9% to $1.76 trillion. Insured shares and deposits also increased 4.3% to $1.91 trillion.

The delinquency rate was 0.96%, up six basis points from the second quarter of 2025.

The NCUA releases quarterly data to provide insight into the financial performance and trends of federally insured credit unions nationwide.
