Feeding Families Across Alabama: 94,863 Meals Supplied to Central Alabama Residents

AmFirst, located in Birmingham, Alabama, together with ABC 33/40, presented a donation to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, providing 94,863 meals to those in need through a combined collection of nonperishable food items and monetary donations. This year’s Feeding Families Across Alabama Food Drive, held throughout July, brought these organizations together to collect nonperishable food and funds for families facing food insecurity.

“In the seventh year of our partnership with ABC 33/40 and the Food Bank, I’m proud of the impact we continue to make together,” said Jody Mattson, AmFirst’s Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement. “Our members continue to show up for those in need.”

More than 232,000 children, seniors, veterans, and neighbors in central Alabama are food insecure. Each year, the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama feeds more than 80,000 children, seniors, veterans, and neighbors at risk of hunger.

“We are so grateful for AmFirst, ABC 33/40, and every person who gave to this year’s Food Drive,” said Nicole Williams, CEO of the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. “Every donation represents hope for a neighbor facing hunger. Together, we’re ensuring children, seniors, veterans, and families have access to the nutritious food they need while reminding our community that no one has to face hunger alone.”

AmFirst and ABC 33/40 are honored to support the Food Bank’s mission and thank every community member who contributed to this year’s success. To learn more about the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama and how you can help, visit feedingal.org.
