Wings Credit Union Veteran Launches Strategic Advisory Firm for Credit Unions

John Wagner, a financial services executive with more than 30 years of industry leadership experience, including 25 years as Chief Member Experience Officer at Wings Credit Union, located in Naples, Florida, has launched CU Strategy Partners, a strategic advisory firm serving credit union leadership teams and boards of directors.

CU Strategy Partners advises credit union executives and boards on strategic planning, governance alignment, and organizational change, including the complex communication demands of merger and acquisition activity. The firm draws on Wagner’s firsthand experience guiding organizations through periods of significant institutional change.

“Credit unions face some of their most consequential decisions during strategic planning cycles, governance transitions, and mergers. My goal is to bring practical, executive-level perspective to those moments, the kind of insight that only comes from having lived through them.”

— John Wagner, Founder, CU Strategy Partners

Wagner’s experience includes guiding communication strategies across several credit union mergers representing several different deal structures, including mergers of equals and credit union and bank acquisitions.

CU Strategy Partners offers three core advisory services: strategic planning facilitation, governance and board alignment, and communication planning focused on organizational changes. Engagements are designed to be collaborative and practical, grounded in real-world credit union leadership experience rather than generic consulting frameworks.

The firm serves credit unions of all asset sizes and is particularly well-suited to organizations preparing for a planning cycle, navigating leadership transition, or approaching significant organizational changes.
