The National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) recently announced that nominations are now open for the 2027 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards. This award recognizes individuals, organizations, and programs that are making extraordinary contributions to the credit union movement.
The Herb Wegner Memorial Awards are the highest national honors in the U.S. credit union movement. Since 1989, the Foundation has hosted this annual celebration of leaders and innovators who have a deep commitment to creating a lasting impact in communities across the country and around the world.
“Each year, the Foundation Gala inspires our more than 1,000 attendees with the bold vision, leadership, and transformational impact of our Wegner award winners,” said Lauren Culp, Executive Director of the National Credit Union Foundation. “This week, we open nominations for the highest honor our movement bestows, the 2027 Herb Wegner Awards. We invite you to nominate an individual, organization, or program whose work embodies credit union values and a deep commitment to improving financial well-being.”
Nominations are open for both individual and organizational/program categories, recognizing meaningful impact, leadership, and innovation that improve financial well-being and strengthen the credit union system.
Submissions require a completed nomination form, five to 10 letters or video recommendations, and a clear demonstration of meaningful outcomes aligned with the industry’s mission.
Award recipients will be honored at the 2027 Foundation Gala, held in conjunction with the Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C. Nominations must be submitted by Sunday, May 31.
