Virginia Credit Union Association Honors Lindsey Kelly as 2025 Advocate of the Year

The Virginia Credit Union Association, a subsidiary of The League of Credit Unions, recognized Lindsey Kelly, Vice President of Legal and Compliance of Langley Federal Credit Union, as the 2025 Advocate of the Year during the Virginia Advocacy Summit, honoring her outstanding leadership and commitment to advancing the credit union movement.

The Advocate of the Year Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to advocacy efforts by promoting and protecting the credit union mission at the state and national levels.

“Receiving the 2025 Advocate of the Year award in Virginia is an incredible honor because it reflects what I love most,” said Kelly. “Working with The League and collaborating with our fellow credit unions allows me to bring our members’ voices directly to the Capitol. What excites me most is knowing that by showing up and sharing our stories, we can influence decisions and create real change for those who need it most. My advocacy journey has inspired more faith in the political process than I ever expected to have!”

Through her work at Langley Federal Credit Union and service as the inaugural Virginia Advocacy Chair, Kelly has played a meaningful role in strengthening relationships with lawmakers and elevating awareness of the credit union difference. Actively engaged in state and federal advocacy efforts and helping to lead key messaging and provide input on pending legislation, her steadfast commitment—including early support of the Summit’s VACUPAC event—has helped ensure credit unions remain a strong, trusted financial resource for the members and communities they serve.

“Lindsey set a strong foundation for advocacy in Virginia through her leadership as the state’s inaugural Advocacy Chair,” said Nadine Slocum, Senior Director of Governmental Affairs at The League. “Her dedication to advancing state and federal initiatives, leading conversations, and supporting the Summit’s VACUPAC event reflects a steadfast commitment to empowering credit unions and the members they serve.”

“Advocates who show up and lead are the backbone of the credit union movement,” shared Samantha A.M. Beeler, President of The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates. “Lindsey’s tireless efforts in state and federal advocacy ensure that credit unions’ voices are heard and that their members’ needs are represented at every level of policymaking.”

The League congratulates Lindsey Kelly on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her continued dedication to advancing the credit union mission through advocacy and service across Virginia.
