Last week, The League joined National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) in Washington, D.C., to advocate on behalf of the ACH system and its essential role in maintaining a payments system that is safe, fast, and secure. NACHA governs the ACH Network, and The League is proud to serve on its Government Relations Advisory Group (GRAG), providing a strong voice for credit unions in this critical space. The GRAG includes representatives from large and regional banks, payment associations, and credit unions—with The League currently serving as the only credit union association represented.
Before heading to Capitol Hill, the group met with Treasury Department officials, including Senior Advisor Matthew Rosenthal and Senior Policy Advisor John Crews, to discuss President Trump’s Executive Order titled Modernizing Payments To and From America’s Bank Account. The conversation also focused on how financial institutions are working to combat fraud and prepare for continued advancements in the payments ecosystem.
On the Hill, The League joined NACHA in meeting with staff from the Senate Committee on Banking, including representatives from the offices of Committee Chairman Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia, Senator Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, and Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada. During these meetings, The League emphasized the importance of reducing check fraud, streamlining government payments, and highlighting how credit unions help close payment access gaps in underserved communities.
The League is honored to be part of these discussions and remains committed to representing credit unions in shaping the future of the payments landscape.
