LSCU Joins 59th Annual National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors State Summit

Over 200 participants—including state regulators, credit union professionals, and industry experts—gathered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the 59th Annual NASCUS (National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors) State Summit. During this meeting, attendees collaborated, shared best practices, and explored pressing issues facing the industry.

The summit’s agenda featured diverse topics, including the regulation of artificial intelligence, innovations in payments, evolving credit risk, the state of commercial lending, and the future of credit unions leading into 2030.

The Pierre Jay Award, NASCUS’s highest honor, recognizes exceptional individuals who have shown outstanding service, commitment, and leadership in supporting NASCUS and the state-chartered credit union system. Cherie Freed, recently retired after 37 years with the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), including eight as the Western Regional Director, received this award in recognition of her influential partnership with state regulators. Her nomination came jointly from ten state supervisory agencies in the Western Region, highlighting her impactful legacy.

As a proud NASCUS member, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) values the association’s dedication to advancing the dual charter system and supporting credit unions with regulatory insights. Since its founding in 1965, NASCUS has been instrumental in navigating complex regulatory matters for credit unions. The association will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2025 in San Antonio, Texas.
