House Committee Passes Remote Online Notarization Bill

On Wednesday, July 20, the House Energy and Commerce Committee unanimously passed H.R. 3962, the Securing and Enabling Commerce Using Remote and Electronic (SECURE) Notarization Act of 2021.

The SECURE Act authorizes the use of remote online notarization (RON) and creates national standards and protections for its use.

LSCU applauds the numerous cosponsors from our tri-state footprint including Reps. John Rutherford (FL-04), Al Lawson (FL-05), Darren Soto (FL-09), Charlie Crist (FL-13), Greg Steube (FL-17), Byron Donalds (FL-19), Lucy McBath (GA-06), Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07), and David Scott (GA-13).

Additionally, we appreciate the Members of Congress who recognize the clear need and demand for this solution and who voted in favor of either committee and/or subcommittee passage: Reps. Gary Palmer (AL-06), Neal Dunn (FL-02), Darren Soto (FL-09), Gus Bilirakis (FL-12), Kathy Castor (FL-14), and Buddy Carter (GA-01).

The bill passed committee 56-0 and now heads to the House floor for final passage.
