Free webinar shares how to identify coronavirus scams targeting older Americans

Credit unions are on the front lines for keeping an eye out for financial elder abuse, and the signs can be difficult to detect. The CFPB will host a free FinEx Webinar, “Identity Theft & Coronavirus Scams” on Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. ET. The webinar will offer insight into how to identity theft and coronavirus scams targeting older Americans and how financial practitioners can help all Americans protect themselves.

Representatives from the CFPB’s Office for Older Americans and the Federal Trade Commission’s Identity Theft Program will discuss some of the coronavirus scams that are circulating and how to avoid them. They will also provide tips to educate those you serve on ways to protect themselves against identity theft, as well as what actions to take if they have been or suspect they are a victim of a scam or identity theft.
