Mobile giants think they have the answer to online authentication and have offered the idea of “Project Verify,” a new authentication initiative. According to Krebs on Security, the task force, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon, say mobile verification is “a way to give consumers both a more streamlined method of proving one’s identity when creating a new account at a given Web site, as well as replacing passwords and one-time codes for logging in to existing accounts at participating sites.”
