Congress returns for a truncated work week. Although not public yet, we expect the House Ways and Means Committee to release the text of “Tax Reform 2.0” this week and hold a markup on Thursday. We don’t expect credit unions to be affected directly by the new legislation.

The House of Representatives will consider H.R. 3798, the Save American Workers Act of 2017.  This bill repeals the “business mandate” and certain other provisions of the Affordable Care Act of 2009. The House may also consider the conference report to H.R. 5895, the Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act of 2019.

The Senate will resume consideration of Charles P. Rettig to be Commissioner of the IRS, and may consider a bill “to ensure that health insurance issuers and group health plans do not prohibit pharmacy providers from providing certain information to enrollees” as well as a bill to provide for opioid use disorder prevention, recovery, and treatment.
