On Tuesday, Nov. 28, a U.S. District Court judge in Washington ruled in favor of the Trump administration’s choice to install White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney as acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The decision came as Leandra English, named as acting director by departing CFPB director Richard Cordray, awaited a temporary restraining order preventing Mulvaney from taking office.

District Judge Timothy J. Kelly declined to grant English’s request. She claimed she was the legal acting director under the Dodd-Frank Act and argued Mulvaney was too close to the Trump administration as a Cabinet official. Read more here.
